Day 1 to 75
75 days around the American continent from Miami, Florida, USA
Embarkation on January 8, 2020 at 1:00 pm in Miami for your 180-day round-the-world tour. After a stopover in Havana on Cuban soil, you will sail towards Central and South America and you will cross the Panama Canal. You will be able to appreciate the cultural and archaeological wealth of these countries with their great mythical sites. Thus, your journey will give you the opportunity to climb Machu Picchu in Peru, to discover the geoglyphs of Nazca, to put yourself in the shoes of a gaucho in a local estancia in Brazil, to dive in the Chilean fjords or to walk on the most beautiful beaches of Mexico.
It’s also the perfect time to discover places that aren’t yet overrun by hordes of tourists: Colombia, Ecuador where you’re sure to buy a panama hat in Montecristi, Nicaragua, the vineyards of Montevideo in Uruguay and the remnants of Mayan culture in El Salvador. To complete your tour of the Americas, you’ll arrive close to the end of the earth in Ushuaia, Argentina and you’ll be able to observe penguin colonies in the Falkland Islands. From Brazil you will make your Atlantic crossing to sail around the African continent.
Day 76 to 99
24 days around the African continent
Your first stop will be in Mindelo, Cape Verde where you will be amazed by the mix of African and Portuguese cultures. Then you will follow the African coasts and continue your discovery of these multifaceted countries. Everywhere in Africa, nature is of an unforgettable beauty. You will love the red dunes and cliffs of spellbinding Namibia as much as Cape Town in South Africa with its colourful houses and festive mood.
You will make a stop in Dakar, an important city of modern Africa with such a French style, in Senegal. Next door, an off-road 4×4 ride awaits you in Banjul, Gambia, where you will have the opportunity to meet monkeys, leopards and hyenas in a reserve. And the change of scenery is not yet over! In Ivory Coast, there is the Paris of Africa, Abidjan, and in Togo, voodoo ceremonies will plunge you into the heart of African spiritual traditions. This continent will not leave you indifferent!
Day 100 to 165
766 days – between the continents of Africa and Asia via the Indian Ocean
You’ll leave Durban and Richards Bay in South Africa for the Indian Ocean and you can stop and swim in the crystal clear waters of the Maldives and Mauritius.
At the end of April you will land on the Asian continent, more precisely in Cochin, India. The culture shock will be striking! Prepare to be dazzled by the beauties of Sri Lanka and Myanmar with their finely sculpted palaces and grandiose temples. In Cambodia and Vietnam, land of infinite smiles, you will see the beauty of Halong Bay, classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It will be the friendliness and kindness of its inhabitants that will touch you the most.
Further north, the hustle and bustle of China will grab you. In Shanghai, since the boat will spend the night there, you will be able to take full advantage of the city. In Beijing, you will have the opportunity to walk in the Forbidden City, but also on the Great Wall. There will still be plenty to see, do and taste on this continent: traditional Korean tea ceremony by one of the monks, sushi tasting in Japan, lively markets and shops in Kuala Lumpur and ultra-modern skyscrapers and Hindu temples in Singapore. This journey will touch every facet and colour of Asia. Geishas, samurai in Japan, but also the tragedies of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, shrines in the ancient imperial city of Kyoto and street parties in Tokyo. You will thus have tasted the essence of Japan.
Day 166 to 180
15 days – return to the American continent
We pass through Petropavlovsk-Kamchatski in Russia before reaching the coast of Alaska for our quiet return to our starting point. Brown bears, red foxes and killer whales await you in Kodiak and Juneau, Alaska. You can learn a little more about the history of the native peoples of these regions. Before reaching California, we’ll take a break in Canada, Prince Rupert and Victoria, which proudly displays its British origins. Then it will be the landing and the end of this round-the-world tour on July 5, 2020 in San Francisco, where you will take the time to be captivated by all its emblematic sites such as the Golden Gate, the Alcatraz and the incredibly relaxed atmosphere of the city.
