Route
Day 1 - Cairo
When you arrive at the airport in Cairo, meet your guide who will take care of the immigration formalities for you. You will then be transferred to your hotel facing the pyramids.
Rest of the day to explore.
Installation at your hotel, the Mena House, former royal palace, for 3 nights.
Day 2 - Cairo / Giza / Cairo
Lunch at your hotel.
Departure with your private guide, Egyptologist by training, to the pyramid of Dahchour built over 4,600 years ago by the father of Cheops. Continue to Sakkara to see the prototypes of the pyramids, the stepped pyramid.
Dinner on the way.
In the afternoon, drive to Giza to admire the Great Pyramid. You will have the opportunity to visit the burial chamber, the Valley of the Temples and the Sphinx.
Return to Cairo.
In the evening, dinner cruise on the Nile.
Return to your hotel at the end of the evening.
Day 3 - Cairo / Alexandria / Cairo
Lunch at your hotel.
Depart for Alexandria, the second largest city in Egypt, via the Desert Road. You will visit the Kom El Shoafa catacombs, the famous Alexandria bookstore and the fort and citadel of Qait Bey.
Dinner on the way and towards the gardens of Montazah and its palace.
Return to your hotel at the end of the afternoon with a stop to taste the famous Egyptian fatayers.
Day 4 - Cairo / Luxor
Lunch at your hotel.
Visit with your guide to the Museum of Egyptian Antiquities. You will have the opportunity to see the treasures of the tomb of Tutankhamun as well as the room of the mummies including that of Ramses II.
Continue to the medieval quarter of Cairo to admire El-Muallaqa or the hanging church and the Ben Ezra synagogue. Walk the streets of the Khan el Khalili bazaar.
Dinner on the way.
At the end of the afternoon, transfer to the airport for your flight to Luxor.
On arrival, your guide will transfer you to your 5-star hotel, Sonesta St-Georges, facing the Nile.
Installation for the night.
Day 5 - Luxor / Nile Cruise
Lunch at your hotel.
In the morning, transfer to the dock for boarding on the Amarco I, one of the most luxurious boats sailing on the Nile, for your cruise.
You will be served dinner before setting out to explore Karnak Temple, also known as the Temple of Temples.
Continuation for the visit of the Luxor temple.
Return to the ship for supper.
Day 6 - Cruise on the Nile / Edfu
After lunch, we leave for the Valley of the Kings where there are 62 tombs of pharaohs.
Visit the temple of Queen Hatshepsut, one of the very few female pharaohs who ruled in Egypt.
Before returning to the ship at the end of the morning, we will stop at the Colossus of Memnon, the statue erected for Amenhotep III.
The rest of the day is free as the boat heads for Edfu.
Day 7 - Cruise on the Nile / Edfu / Kom Ombo / Aswan
After lunch, we travel by carriage to the Temple of Horus, the best-preserved temple in the Nile.
Return to the boat which will head towards Kom Ombo where we will visit the temple of Sobek in the afternoon.
During the evening, the ship will head for Aswan.
Day 8 - Cruise on the Nile / Aswan
In the morning, we will visit the Aswan High Dam, then we will disembark on the island of Agilka to see the temple of Philae, dedicated to Isis.
Return to the ship for dinner.
In the afternoon, we embark on a felucca to head to Elephantine Island, the largest of the Aswan Islands and to Kitchener Island, where Lord Kitchener’s botanical garden is located.
From the river we can see the mausoleum of Aga Khan, a pink granite elephant erected in the 1950s.
Return to the ship in the late afternoon.
Day 9 - Cruise on the Nile / Cairo
In the morning, disembark and transfer to Aswan airport for your flight to Abu Simbel.
At your destination, you will visit the temples erected for the worship of the Egyptian gods and of Nefertari, the wife of Ramses II.
Return flight to Cairo via Aswan in the late afternoon.
On arrival, transfer and installation for one night at your 5-star hotel.
In the evening, a typical Egyptian farewell dinner at the Abu El Sid restaurant.
Return to your hotel at the end of the evening.
Day 10 - Cairo / Montreal
Lunch at your hotel.
Transfer from your hotel to the airport for your flight to Montreal.
