Route
Day 1: Montreal - Prague
After your arrival in the beautiful city of Prague, take advantage of the end of the day to visit the Old Town Square to admire the medieval astronomical clock. It is one of the must-see things in Prague. In the same place, admire the Gothic church of Our Lady of Týn with its two 80-metre-high bell towers, another must-see in Prague.
After this first day, you will return to your hotel, the Dancing House. You can enjoy a drink on the hotel’s rooftop. And once you have rested, head to a typical local brewery.
Day 2: Prague
Reserve this first morning for a visit to Prague Castle. Take the tram on the way there, and then choose your own route. The Castle, founded in the 9th century, was the seat of the Bohemian kings before becoming the seat of the presidents of the Republic.
Visit St. Vitus Cathedral or the Golden Lane with its small shops. Also take time to visit the Castle and the nearby Strahov Monastery with its magnificent library.
The hill of Petřín is the most romantic place in Prague. You can climb the hill on foot or by funicular. You will enjoy a fairytale view of Prague Castle!
Day 3: Prague
The Municipal House is the most beautiful example of Art Nouveau in Prague. Come in and see it for yourself. Have a coffee there as well. Spend your afternoon in the Jewish quarter of Josefov. Then walk down Wenceslas Square.
For your last evening in Prague, take a walk in the Vinohradys district above Wenceslas Square, where you will find many restaurants around the square Náměstí Míru.
Day 5: Vilshofen
Day 6: Linz
The boat arrives in Linz where you will have several excursion options. Choose a full-day excursion to Salzburg, where you will visit the historic centre, the Mirabell Gardens, the Residenzplatz and the Old Market. On the way to Salzburg, stop at Mondsee, where the famous St. Michael’s Basilica is located and where the wedding scene in The Sound of Music takes place.
You can also join a morning stroll through Linz’s Old Town and near the Mozart House, or take a guided bike tour along the famous “Culture Mile” and the Danube. You can also choose to visit the charming mountain town, Český Krumlov, located just over the Czech-Austrian border.
Day 7: Panoramic cruise
Cruise through the Strudengau and Wachau valleys to Weissenkirchen, the gateway to Dürnstein. Once here, you can choose to join a walk in Dürnstein along its cobbled streets to the baroque Stiftskirche and then visit the magnificent Benedictine Abbey of Melk.
For the more active adventurers, you can choose to walk up to the fortress where Richard the Lionheart was held, or take a bike ride along the Danube in the Wachau valley. You can also visit a local apricot producer, where you can taste the best delicacies of the region. Later in the evening, enjoy a special tasting of Riesling and Grüner Veltliner from Weissenkirchen, world-famous local wines.
Day 8: Vienna
The “City of Waltzes” offers a treasure trove of gems and your city tour will showcase them, including the majestic Opera House and the former Imperial Palace. Your tour ends in the historic city centre with a visit to the St. Stephen’s Cathedral. Or if you prefer a more active visit, take a guided bike tour through Vienna. In the afternoon, use your free time to further explore this emblematic city.
Day 9: Bratislava
Host to the coronation ceremonies of 11 Hungarian kings and queens between 1536 and 1830, Bratislava certainly earned the title of “City of the Coronation of Kings”, as you will discover during your walking tour. You can also take part in a special “Flavours of Slovakia” tour. For a more active adventure, climb up to Bratislava Castle, which offers magnificent views of the city.
Day 10: Budapest
Your city tour starts at the Grand Market of Budapest, where you will discover many delicious dishes and many shops. Then you will visit both sides of the Danube, Buda (hilly) and Pest (flat).
