Route
Day 1: Montreal - Banff
Day 2: Banff - Mt. Norquay
Mount Norquay is one of the smallest mountains, but it is also the closest to the city, so it’s very easy to get to if you only want to spend a few hours on the trails on any day of your trip. Mt. Norquay is particularly suitable for family excursions.
At Norquay’s Cascade Lodge, you have the option of take-out food on the first floor or dining in the Lone Pine Pub on the second level. If you have the time, you can take a variety of seasonal bites from Executive Chef Morne Burger such as bao buns, arancini and salads.
At the top of the mountain is the Cliffhouse Bistro, where you can drink homemade beer and enjoy s’mores over the fire.
Day 3: Lake Louise
The Lake Louise ski resort was once the largest in all of Canada. It is about 8 km from the lake, with the most picturesque views and the most varied trails in this part of the Canadian Rockies.
There are a lot of intermediate terrain crisscrossing the mountain. Even if you are a beginner or intermediate, there are many green and blue trails that start at the top and there is always an easy way down.
Lake Louise offers a dozen or so dining options, spread throughout the vast ski area. We have the possibility to eat ramen at Kuma Yama, at the Lodge of Ten Peaks in the resort. In the middle of the mountains at Sawyer’s Nook at lunch time, take the time to enjoy a hamburger served on a pretzel roll with a pepper aioli.
Day 4: Banff - Sunshine
Banff Sunshine includes three steep mountain ranges and looks like a surrealist painting from another world. The views are spectacular and entertaining. With 1,335 hectares of accessible snow-covered terrain, eight quads, a gondola and a heated lift, you will be blown away by nature.
You can eat at the hotel’s Eagle’s Nest Bistro, which offers mainly salads and sandwiches. After your afternoon of skiing, enjoy snacks and drinks at Mad Trappers.
Once you’ve hit all three resorts during your stay in Banff, don’t forget to exchange your ski pass at the SkiBig3 Adventure Centre for a free pint of beer at the Elk & Oarsman, as well as a souvenir of the trail.
Day 5: Marble Canyon
Immerse yourself in Canada’s beautiful winter landscape on a four-hour snowshoe hike from Banff to Kootenay National Park. Follow your guide through Marble Canyon and keep your eyes open for moose and wolf tracks. The 3 km trail is mostly flat terrain and ideal for beginner snowshoers. You will also enjoy a hot chocolate break with the possibility of eating maple syrup.
Day 6: Lac Louise
Widely considered the main attraction in Banff National Park, Lake Louise is transformed in winter into a snowy wonderland. A transfer service includes round-trip travel from downtown Banff, as well as interpretive commentary by your guide. Take advantage of your free time to explore Lake Louise at your leisure with snowshoes and refreshments.
