Route
Day 1 - Ajaccio
Recovery of your car and installation at your hotel. The rest of the day is organized as you wish: you can get to know the many tourist attractions of the city, sit on the terrace of a café or take a swim.
Ajaccio, the administrative capital of Corsica, is located on one of the most beautiful gulfs in the world. The Napoleonic city can be visited while strolling along the alleys leading to the old port and the markets of the old town. The white sand beach is in the heart of the center and extends to the Sanguinaires islands offering a wonderful sight especially at sunset.
Overnight in Ajaccio.
Day 2 - Ajaccio
Take the time to discover Ajaccio by visiting the Citadel, the Bonaparte house, the Fesch museum, the Punta castle, the Place de Gaulle and the Notre-Dame de l’Assomption cathedral. In the afternoon, take a hike to Lake Tolla and its picturesque village. To return with exceptional photos, take the Sentier des Sanguinaires to have a breathtaking view of the islands.
Overnight in Ajaccio.
Day 3 - Ajaccio - Bonifacio
Today, head south with a stop at Propriano, a peaceful seaside town on the Gulf of Valinco. Thereafter, continue towards Sartène, the ultimate Corsican city, if one believes Prosper Mérimée. The Sartenaise region is undoubtedly the territory of Corsica origins. You will be able to discover many prehistoric sites (Filitosa, prehistoric museum of Lévie) as well as ruins of old castles dating from the time of the Lords. Sartène is the largest medieval village in Corsica and is distinguished by the Genoese drawbridge which will take you through the narrow cobbled streets in the square of the church of Santa Maria Assunta.
After a photo stop at the “lion” of Roccapina, you will reach the southernmost of the towns of Corsica, Bonifacio, suspended above the sea on its white cliff. Visit the upper town sheltered from the citadel. The panorama is exceptional. You can rest on the quays before embarking on your dinner cruise to the Lavezzi Islands. Return to your hotel at the end of the day.
Overnight in Bonifacio.
Day 4 - Bonifacio - Porto Vecchio - Bonifacio
Do not hesitate today to go admire the Aiguilles de Bavella! At once massive, pass and forest, the place alone summarizes the peculiarities of the relief of the island, namely perpetually delirious shapes and colors that range from the lightest red to the darkest gray, all sprinkled huge pine forests.
At the end of the afternoon, you will be waited for a gourmet dinner at the Michelin-starred restaurant U Santa Marina for the chef’s “Closed Eyes Tasting” menu.
Overnight in Bonifacio.
Jour 5 – Bonifacio – Calvi
Day 6 - Calvi - Cap Corse - Calvi
Head towards Cap Corse by the North road dotted with small villages. By the east coast, you will have the opportunity to cross Aléria, the first capital of the island known under the old name of Alalia. Take a break in Bastia, the city of art and history, to admire the Baroque churches and chapels before reaching Cap Corse, a wild headland with undeniable charm.
Self-guided or guided hikes in this region of unspoiled nature and unique landscapes.
Return to Calvi at the end of the day and overnight in Calvi.
Day 7 - Calvi - Porto - Calvi
Depending on your mood of the day, choose your discoveries.
Marvel at the Calanques of Piana, a remarkable mineral landscape with changing shades of red. Then, visit the typical village of Évisa inland by a route of another mineral beauty, the Scala di Santa Regina, a path that evokes magnificent stone laces drawn in granite rock. Its name comes from the stairs (scala) which seem cut in the rock.
Or, in the morning, choose a relief more tormented by the road by the sea which will take you to the village of Porto, undoubtedly one of the most beautiful villages of Corsica. Take the afternoon to let yourself be charmed by this village classified as World Heritage of Humanity.
You can, if you wish, explore the magnificent gulf by boat, from Porto to the Scandola nature reserve.
At the end of the afternoon, you will be awaited for a gourmet dinner at the Michelin-starred La Signora restaurant where the “Return from the market” menu will be offered to you by the chef.
Overnight in Calvi.
Day 8 - Calvi - Montreal
Departure for your return flight to Montreal.
