Eco-Odyssee - Wakefield

Day 2: Ottawa - Montreal

After spending a night at the Ecologe, you will visit the Fairbairn House Heritage Centre. This site tells the story of the Gatineau River Valley. Built in 1861, William Fairbairn’s family home includes a tourist office, local heritage exhibits, guided tours, a log cabin, a heritage barn, an outdoor stage and access to walking trails. The Heritage Centre is located near Wakefield’s famous red covered bridge.

Take the opportunity to discover the La Fab arts centre in Chelsea, one of the Outaouais’ hidden treasures. Housed in the former presbytery of St. Stephen’s Church, it is home to an art gallery, a boutique and nine artists’ studios open to visitors. Numerous cultural activities are organized throughout the year.

Following your visit to the arts centre, you will have the opportunity to eat downtown at Les Brasseurs du Temps, which is the first microbrewery in the Outaouais. Their gourmet table is full of tasty products that are sure to be matched with one of the 17 beers available at any given time. This microbrewery also has a brewery museum and reveals the history of beer and the importance it has had in the region.
